If they can make the money, they should go. I don't see what the NFL draft services see in some of these guys. Example: Jalen Collins the #4 CB in the draft? Yeah, he has "measurables", but he doesn't have "INTs" or "forced fumbles" and only "broke up" 9 passes. That said, if he can make a roster and not the practice squad then go for it. I think it's also a huge risk for some of these guys. They have to realize that even if they do make it, they're really only taking home like $200k cash. Rent a place. Buy a used car. But few of them do that.
I also think that for every NCAA athelete, they should be forced to take personal finance courses for credit. I don't want to see any of these kids driving a forklift after making $900k in two years and then being done with their careers and I won't have any sympathy for them if they go bankrupt.
The 30 for 30 on being broke is one of the most shocking things - like how can you misunderstand the frequency of how you will be paid, and that the government is going to take half your shite. How can you possibly misunderstand this? But they do all the time. And then they don't have the money to come back and finish a degree - it's depressing.
I agree with all of this. However, I will add that the NFL should do more to protect the athletes. The players should have money for future returns to college built into their contracts. It could be an NFL-run trust for post-football education. A lot of MLB contracts have something like this.

Ok...that protects the kids that got drafted and signed a contract.....but what about those that went undrafted? Do you realize that almost 40% of underclassmen that declared last year didn't get drafted, and very few actually made a team?
