It succeeded pretty well for a show that takes a season (or sometimes two) to solve a single murder.
Shows in long term soap opera format where you have to watch every episode have it tough anyway unless they are really compelling.

you see...I find the show very compelling.
When dat bass line drops at the end of every episode and they are about to reveal a new clue...it moves a little.
