1. Not getting Avon out of the way. Avon himself told Stringer he wasn't hard enough for the game right before Stringer told Avon he whacked Deangelo, perhaps Avon was right. (another mistake, telling Avon about Dee).

2. Attempting to use Omar to get Brother Mozuen out of the way... I'm sure it seemed brilliant to Stringer at the time but when you play with fire like those two, you gonna get torched.

both of these are Avon problems that Stringer tried to fix, though

3. Being too ambitious in the business world without proper education and networking. Clay Davis would have bled Stringer dry if given the opportunity. If only Stringer would have hedged his bets with the development connections and not relied on the "goose" of Clay Davis.

he messed up here, but in the big picture, it wasn't a big failure. $250k is nothing to his empire

His only mistake was thinking a thug could play a bigger game. Should have just let the Jew lawyer play the white man games.

true.

They were problems for Stringer that Avon created. Avon always seemed to be Stringer's road block to smooth sailing and Stringer's inability to solve these problem through Avon first is ultimately his undoing.
