So then you do fricking understand.

And I would dispute some of your claims, especially this one:

quote:

People in general are nicer,

People are absolute assholes when it comes to shopping. Seriously. I've never been exposed to so many grumpy, greedy bitches and jerkoffs than when I go shopping at Christmas time.

You also forgot 5) Family members work in retail and because so many people shop at late hours, they're never home to be with family as evidenced by my dad who is a manager at a major department store and has worked until 10pm every day (save one) since Thanksgiving. He'll get off on Christmas Eve at 5pm, have Christmas off, and then is expected at work on the 26th at 4am to get ready for returns and the after-Christmas sales.

How is this Christmas' fault? Get a different job or work for a retailer who doesn't demand these hours.

This is my biggest problem with it. All of the commercialism. It just makes me want it to be over with. I wish we would celebrate the Winter Solstice with a two week holiday and drop the religious and commercial aspects of the season.
