But I would like to see National Guard patrolling FQ. A guy in camo holding an M16 is a pretty good deterrent for opportunistic thuggery.

No doubt. Get the national guard in.
Not sure how well that will go with the oblivious tourist when they hit conti and bourbon drinking a shark attack and see a guy in camo with an m16. That could be a put off, but watching the 5pm news would do the same as well...

According to the Consent Decree, NOPD SWAT can not even be on the street carrying long rifles. Thanks US Justice Department.
