The embargo was wholly ineffective. Refute that.
At the time when Castro took over and stole billions of dollars of American property, he used that money to support leftist regimes and revolutionary movements throughout the world. He funded them, sent doctors to them, and sent troops to them to try and set up communists governments elsewhere. As the Cuban economy crumbled he couldnt do that anymore.
Also I think that possibly the only place that a communist government could survive indefinitely is a place like Cuba. Relatively small population (around 10 million), plenty of farmland, tourists attractions, and very close to the largest economy in the world. Government run hotels, resorts, and casinos would be everywhere. If American dollars had been pouring in for the last 40 years, and the government was getting all of it, they would be rich. And Cuba would be held up as a shining example that communism can work.

Could you be honest? The embargo has not accomplished what it's proponents claim is the goal - toppling the regime. The evidence bears out that the opposite happened. Further there is much more evidence that economic engagement is more successful in opening up communist countries and delivering freedom to the citizens. Your supposition of what might have happened is pure fantasy - it's all you have.
