Is this the two schools marching bands playing fight songs and such?

It's a fight to the death, with only the victor left standing.

They dont just play fight songs. They also play popular songs and stuff they play at halftime. Its quite interesting. And sometimes, both teams will play the same song together in different parts

One band will play an overplayed, yet catchy tune that reminds Subway Alumni of the good ole days thirty years ago;
while the other band plays Pregame and reminds folks that the good ole days are actually still attainable and that this is just a tiny lull in an otherwise greatest era in its school's history.

My son is in TGBFTL and is currently home on winter break.
He's lost a little weight but looks like he has plenty of muscle and stamina left.
I have let him know that the expectation is simple:
Kick the Irish band's butt or don't come back after the game.
