quote:

The government should sponsor

The *Government* was and is...whichever ideas/group holds current power. And that group will always believe that their ideas should be forced upon the Collective populous to the maximum degree in order to promote societal efficiency...because the group in power believes in the superiority/morality/practicality of their ideas.

The 'grand experiment' of Constitutional Freedom in this Nation...was that it let LOCAL groups employ their ideas...and let the consequences of their choices define the success or failure of said ideas.

This whole current "government should sponsor" thing - when the Ideas at the heart of those supposedly sponsored policies are so polarized - is destined for gridlock and ultimate collapse minus some sort of unifying Principle.

The essence of Religion...is that of a merciful God and a redeemable soul - beyond this temporal life, and into a next one. Therein, policy to lend societal charity to individuals which would otherwise be a one-time and hopeless bane upon the survival and prosperity of Humanity...is (IMHO) the ONLY Idea which has power to successfully unite the vast populous. What Idea...takes that one's place? Throw out the Biblical/Religious Concept...and just what grand idea is adopted to unite and rule?

Is societal subsidization and rampant growth of even the most immoral, dangerously anti-social and economically unsustainable groups and individuals as per the current 'social justice' political meme champions...really a good thing...OUTSIDE of the Biblical concept of a redeemable soul?

We've got groups and entire sub-cultures of people who are utterly in another (irrational) Universe...when it comes to even recognizing what morality, truth and real justice is. Just how long does Mother Nature, or God...sustain such misguided foolishness? "Behold, there is a way that SEEMETH RIGHT unto man...but the end thereof is destruction". (Biblical verse)

This will come out in the wash. Always does. Always will.

I'm a gay dude. I'm an LSU grad. I'm passionate about LSU football. I like Vegas and fishing and all things Louisiana and I run my own businesses. I'm just a guy.

I have a nephew I'm crazy about. I'd love to adopt but I'd never do it as a single man. I think every kid needs two parents. And I'd insist one of us stays home with the kid because I believe that makes for a better childhood, too.

I'm Libertarian, I've got morals, I'm irrational about LSU baseball, and I pay my taxes. My best friend is a former U of Houston baseball player and he's as conservative as they come. But once he got over "he's gay" he realized that I'm pretty much like him.

And that's what I'd hope the OP would find. A gay guy that's normal, has spiritual beliefs, and values the family. Because that's many of us. Once you get to know a guy like that, you'll realize our sexuality doesn't matter one damn bit.

And we usually know more gay jokes than you.
