Like I said in the OP, it was reported as a "rumor" which means it very well may not be true.
However, when I heard it I immediately thought, "Oh shite, that would cause crazy chaos if true!"
And considering how things played out for Baylor this year, I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being true or partially true.
Baylor may be small but they strive and act like a major player. This would fit their ego.
It's possible but highly unlikely.
We will be lucky to change the Big 12 by laws this season at best. There is 0 talk of expansion to 12 teams, only petitioning the NCAA to allow us to play a CGG. The petition will likely be shot down anyways.
Just changing the conference by-laws will be hard enough though as coaches who are deemed "co-champions" get their bonus checks regardless if they are the "real" champ or the co-champ. We will be lucky if that happens this off season.
The only other P5 conference we would fit in though is the ACC. PAC12 doesn't like our religious affiliation, we don't offer anything towards the SEC nor does the SEC need anyone else, Big10 has no need for us either.
If conference realignment happens again, our best bet would be the ACC but I only see that happening if we are forced to go and not on our own.
