He gets paid well in comparison to top tier program coaches.

Mark Dantonio makes 5.6 mil. How many NCGs has his teams played in?

Kevin Sumlin makes 5 mil. How many NCGs has he played in?

Charlie Strong makes 5 mil. How many NCGs has his teams played in?

James Franklin makes 4.3 mil. How many NCGs has his teams played in?

Kirk Ferentz makes 4.1 mil. How many NCGs has his teams played in?

Gary Patterson makes 4 mil. How many NCGs has his teams played in?

The above are 6 of the top 9 paid coaches today.

A case can easily be make that in comparison to most of the highest paid coaches today for the results they have achieved, Miles is under paid.

I don't think that at 61 Miles goes to Michigan and LSU pays him well enough, but I also don't see LSU allowing Michigan to take Miles without LSU upping his contract if needed.

IMHO
I do not care how much he makes.... IF IT IS TIED TO PERFORMANCE.

what I do hate, is the LONG TERM SECURITY contract.

....seems to always be a formula for disaster and lusterless performance.

just like Familiarity breeds Contempt
too much Security leeds to apathy.

He is paid well - I think it evens out. Urban Meyer makes a few hundred thousand more than Miles and he has 2 NCs and like 7 12+ win seasons in his career (three 13 win seasons at UF and three 12 wins seasons already at Ohio State). Jimbo Fisher is paid less and he has an NC, two undefeated regular seasons and is 4-0 in bowls there. Spurrier is paid less as well and he is the winningest coach ever at two schools. South Carolina might have even had a losing record all-time when he got there and he managed to get them to the SECCG for the 1st time ever and win a school record 11 wins three straight years to go with their highest ranking ever at the end of a year.

Penn State has to pay a lot of $ to draw a decent coach after what went on there. Texas is overpaying Strong, but they have it to throw away over there. Some of the others are getting paid a lot because they have coaches that have won for stretch of time at places that aren't known for winning or attracting the best athletes.
