Ohio State has played well enough to get in, no doubt. My question is what if they were left out. The Big ten would be going nuts nuts. and if ND was close they would always be there.

I'm not som sure about that. In 2012, Notre Dame was consistently ranked last among the undefeated teams, and only rose to #1 by default, after every other team lost.
