re: Universal Remote Recommendations

I've had 2 harmony remotes. One of the first ones (700 something maybe? IDK) and the rectangle touch screen 1000 or something.

700 was good but after about two years it wouldn't charge. Tried new battery and charger but I guess the contacts were screwed up. It was a gift so it didn't bother me much.

The 1000 sucked. Not nearly as easy to use as the full size remote and shite out after a little over a year. It just went blank and wouldn't connect with my computer to reset. Reading around online it appeared to be a pretty common issue. Logitech basically told me I was SOL.

They're awesome when they work but I just can't justify spending that kind of money on a 1-2 year solution.

That being said, I know plenty of people that have used and loved them and had zero issues over several years. I just am not one of them.
