I really think we need to get something going on the moon first. It would be a good test run to colonization.

Completely agree. I just think that private companies really could help out the effort, especially in regards to technology development. Similar to how the US military has used private companies for weapons development and naval logistics.

Trying to advance the human race and we are stuck on America doing it alone. Take the mentality of the world getting there, not one country. Split the cost and it will happen a lot faster.
