That's not true according to the Office of National Statistics. Page 15 LINK

There were 60 shooting homicide victims in 2010/11, an increase of 19 offences compared with

proportion of homicides committed by shooting was nine per cent in 2010/11.

And they don't count homicides as homicides if there is no conviction.
