Dropping the football program, I do not. The exposure that schools get from a D-1 football program is priceless. Very few football programs actually make money, and the money that they do spend is worth it in the long run

What exposure? Almost all their games are on ASN, which I had never even heard of until their game against Marshall. No one was watching, no one was going. The University is better off investing that money into academics and research.

In five years I'm willing to bet UAB will not be the only school to drop FBS football. Hell, UMASS considered going back to FCS after ONE year in FBS.

Hawaii is already talking about dropping football after the Obannon ruling. The funding problem is only going to get worse for these small schools trying to play in the same ballpark as the Big 5.
