You know, it's not even the spanking part... my parents rarely spanked me. Instead they would put me in the yard digging holes for planting flowers, doing EXTRA chores (you know, when kids were actually given regular chores), and overall manual labor that no kid really wants to do. And they didn't take my side when another parent or teacher said I misbehaved.

I'm not saying these younger kids are bad, but they have definitely learned how to work the system and play their weak parents.
