Its just that the Iron Bowl isn't just about football. All of these people live in the same state. In the same cities. They go to the same churches and send their kids to the same schools before college.

Their lives are just so much more intertwined 365 days of the year that it really leads to some legitimate animosity towards one another. They don't just hate each other during football season. They hate each other in the communion line at church.

And there's nothing else either. No pro sports teams, no caring about men's basketball.
