I've got a Chromecast and Apple TV and use Chromecast more it seems like. I have a Macbook Pro, Ipad and an Android phone. The Chromecast does pretty much everything the Apple TV does including mirroring the Macbook Pro (using Chrome). Haven't tried Roku but hear great things about it too. Just depends what you want and how much $$ you're willing to spend and the exosystem you're in.

If you have different ecosystems and don't care about a remote - Chromecast
If you have different ecosystems and want a remote - Roku or Fire TV (Haven't played with Fire TV either)
If you have all apple products and don't mind the price - Apple TV
