Not that I necessarily think Griffey is the greatest ballplayer of all time, but there really were very few ballplayers who were 5 toolers like Griffey that could do everything as well as he could. Before his nagging injuries, he hit for power (before his injuries, he was well on pace to crush Aaron's HR record), average (even with his injuries, he hit a career .284), was a 10x gold glover with an absolute cannon, and was fast.

By the numbers, Willie Mays was better, but I know people can make an argument for Griffey Jr.
