Ill be in Meraux tomm around lunch time, is there any lunch spots, meat markets, or anything else I want to stop before I head home?

There was a thread a little ways back asking about Chalmette lunch places. Meraux is like a Chalmette suburb and most places are reachable for lunch.

What about the green store? Have never been, but I have been told about it many times.

Brewster's in Chalmette for an excellent burger and baked potato, or a surprisingly good tuna steak. Back when that place first opened, you could get a tuna steak and loaded baked potato for l$6.99. I don't know how they did it so cheap, and it was better than most places where I paid triple that amount. And unless anything has changed, their big burgers are served on a french bread bun. I still hope to find buns like that any time I walk into a store. The place has improved in appearance, but even when it was a hole in the wall with a reputation for the hostage situation, it was first on my list for a burger or tuna steak anywhere in the New Orleans area.

Someone was telling me about a place down there that trumps Brewsters. Would be an impressive burger.
Going to try to figure it out.

...and Tony's used to blow away Rocky's, but it closed. I've been eating there since the '70s. I damn near cried when I heard the news. By far my favorite place to eat "real" food.

Tony's was really good. Always chose it over R&C. Had to break the bad news to someone in the Chalmette thread last month.
ETA: Desi's is the place for the good buger. Never tried it though.

lived on rosetta, walking distance from tony's. used to love their po-boys. Roat beef was excellent as was the fried shrimp po-boy.

All great suggestions but I would like to add Meme's to the list.

I've never eaten there, but I can believe it. I went to school with Desi. Back in the day his dad had a pretty good steakhouse in da Parish called "Steak & Pati" or something like that. They had some awesome big burgers. Brewster's french buns always put them over the top for me.

Not much in actual Meraux itself except for Crave and a BBQ place by one of the gas stations.
In Chalmette, for lunch...

There is also now a Buds Broiler but you can get that anywhere.
Armond's has some great dinner specials. Never been there for lunch. But at dinner, the service is slooooow.... usually one one person cooking and one person working the tables. Unless they do better at lunch, I don't have that kind of time during lunch hour.
