Regular bench (to your chest)is way more damaging to the shoulder joint. I have my shoulder patients make sure that when they work chest they never let elbows go behind shoulders as its unsafe.
So you tell your patients to cheat the excercise......are you a cross cult coach too??
Most shoulder injuries are because people lift way way to much weight and do not maintain proper speed and form. Dropping weight then bouncing weight back up is what hurts shoulders. The excercise doesnt IF done properly. It's been around since the beginning of time.

And clearly the poor kid in the OP was not doing it properly and his form was terrible and he looked hilarious.
He should have lowered the weight down to an amount in which he could properly control the weight with good form.

Agree with the second part; only partially agree with the first part. Yes, lots of people overdo it on how much they load the bar with, but the chief culprit in shoulder impingement vis-a-vis flat bench pressing is not retracting the scapula beforehand and if doing so, not keeping it retracted while lying down. There's also some evidence to suggest that even if that form is maintained strictly, flaring the elbows out away from the body reintroduces the forward motion of the shoulders slightly, thus increasing the likelihood of impingement.
