I think it's a matter of development. A player can develop maturity only in the face of adversity. If you don't learn to succeed through adverse conditions, it is questionable as to where the person or team has achieved success. The difference between AJ and BH is that one has a little more maturity than the other. BH had a "zeal without knowledge" and "caved in" to the hostile environment at Auburn. It's important to have a settled individual leading a team--talent and leadership at times don't intersect, but mature leadership is one of the keys to having a great team. Talent alone isn't good enough to get the job done. Teamwork with good leadership does.
