It's not patriotic garbage. NASA was a win win for this country. Countless technological advances came from it's missions. Now we can't even take our own astronauts to the space station that the US largely funded and built.

Watching Interstellar made me even more pissed at Obama and other Presidents who have essentially stripped the US of funding space exploration. We need to be exploring the next frontier.

We shifted our R&D goals on creating material to build things in space as well as a massive undertaking in robotics. This is not a problem because less advanced countries need to catch up so all humans can appreciate space. So we farm out our 70 year old technology and stay on the cutting edge forefront of technological advancement.

I have no problems with either of those.
