It wouldn't have taken much work in Virginia - at all. And just a little more effort would have put NH in reach - I'm not saying it was winnable by Scott, but his finish makes me question even that conclusion.
The governors are even more shocking - I drank the Kool Aid, thinking the Rs had peaked in governorships and thought a push or a rollback of 1 or 2 was quite likely - a gain in Governors was wholly unexpected.

If Landrieu wins and the GOP had taken the NH and Virginia seats, the scenario I assume you are referencing, it would have been 56-42-2. Neither of the two independents in the Senate were on the ballot this time around.
