re: Veterans, what is your reply when some one thanks you? (today or anyday)

As a DC resident, I see this happen all the time.

My understanding is that those in uniform don't really need it for motivation. But it isn't criticism either, so can be either awkward or reassuring depending on how you feel that day. No harm done, they know you're doing it mostly to make yourself feel good but who would object?
