I saw a doc shot at a prison in Maine. They put dudes in seg/isolation cells for breaking rules.
One guy goes in perfectly sane, saying he looks forward to quiet time for reading and exercises.
Within a month, the guy is cutting himself, smearing blood and shite all over the place, etc. His experience was not uncommon. The prisoners would get so bored that would do crazy stuff like mutilation or flooding toilets just to get a little excitement.

I feel I went into solitary confinement, like the hardcore kind...I'd come out with tons of awesome ideas. I'd sink into a creative stage. I'd love it.
I am an introvert. Give me enough books, pencils and paper and I'd be fine, reading and writing all alone. But it is the others in seg that would make it unbearable.
I watched the PBS investigative show on solitary the other night and the people on seg are nuts or going nuts quickly. Lots of poop-flinging, toilet flooding, screaming and cutting themselves and painting the walls with blood ( or poop)
