That doesn't sound right.

In AL if you get a DUI you go CRO(court referral office),also known as "color code",until your Trial.

You have to call every weekday morning and see if it's your color.You have to report for a drug test that day.

Then the Judge puts you through a year or so of Community Corrections.Reporting every week or month.Paying your fee every month.Going to Meetings.

It's a money generating system here.

Drug Charges are worse of course.

Saint.Dang.That's a little piece of time.People either get fat or turn into weight lifters.

At least as of 2008 this was ththe case in St. Tammany. After booking during med screening you either took drug test or not...if you failed or refused you were referred to drug court. Not sure what would usually happen after that but definitely were given a date to appear even though no actual charges were filed
