I'm pretty sure this is the reason why Google is pushing for all sites to move to secure pages only. They have enough points of contact across the web that they can still get a pretty good profile on you, but it would effectively lockout the ISPs data collection. They'd know that you go to Tigerdroppings.com but wouldn't have a clue which board you spend all your time on, but Google would.
