You're a piss poor student of history. Our "pathetic" Army was better equipped and had vastly better medical support than the German's ever developed. Our soldiers were trained to a higher standard of marksmanship, cross-trained to support more functions as a basic war-fighter compared to German infantry.

I guess our interpretation of history in the 1930s and 1940s is just different. We were able to mass produce equipment and weaponry on an unbelievable scale but we were not prepared for war when WWII broke out. Once we were sucked into the conflict we got better but at the start at the war we were not ready - just look at the initial battles in Africa.
