What I meant by my post is that Germany overextended herself in every way imaginable. Had it embraced the Slavic people desperate to depose Stalin he easily conquers Russia. The Russians rose up against Hitler because he was far more brutal and a SOB than Stalin was to them.

If Hitler puts aside his rabid racism I think Europe and the world is a scary place today

The very reason that the British were able to get out of Dunkirk in the first place (and that the Germans couldn't capitalize on the situation) was both leadership and command structure, neither in which the Germans were particular competent.

You underestimate the capability of the navies. If the Germans had settled at the borders of the USSR, they'd have been resourced-starved (especially oil, but also rubber) within a few years. The Americans and British had almost totally choked off the German shipping lanes by early 1942.

If Hitler hadn't have been Hitler and been a dogmatic National Socialist, he probably would have never been a conquerer and usurper in the first place.

History is never preordained, but the deck was stacked against the Reich and Dai Nippon earlier than most people realize.
