The administration will never admit it but UM not seriously pursuing Miles for the HC position in the past may go down as one of the biggest missteps that program has ever made.

I don't agree here.. To be fair Miles came to LSU AFTER Saban put it back on the map... He has just had to keep the cupboard full which he can at LSU... I ASSURE you he would NOt get the type of players at UM as he has gotten at LSU......

Agreed on the player part. But I do think with the players he would get that he would have them more competitive than the current and last HC and would have galvanized the fan base. Inner politics did not let them seriously pursue him. Just a dog and pony show toward the masses while the inner factions said NO WAY!!!

That is such an ignorant statement--especially a decade later. If that was the case why didn't UCLA remain "dominant"? Why isn't USC "dominant"? Texas? Florida?

You do realize that Saban went 9-3 his final year hear WITH
his players and his system.

yeah b/c it isn't like people used the Saban angle to negatively recruit against Miles, then 2 years later hes competing for recruits within the same proximity as Saban. DiNardo didn't leave the cupboard bare either. You still have to lead, make critical decisions, too many examples to show that momentum of an earlier regime dissipates quickly

Your kidding right? Miles has proven to be a very good recruiter! And even thougth UM is not the program it has been in the past the school and program has an extremely rich football history. With the right coach, and Miles would definitely be the right coach, they will be back at the top of the Big Ten within 2-3years. And players would flock to him knowing that he would not be leaving UM for any other school. Don't kid yourself if UM is smart this time when they fire Hoke they will back the truck up and pay Miles whatever he wants.
