I can spend $60k and get a German car that's <1s slower in the 0-60, wayyyyyy nicer on the inside, and I can also be a smug piece of shite about driving ~German engineering~

Like what?
The handling on a similar German car will be marginally better, at best. And FWIW, the Challenger and Charger are built on the LX/LC/LD platforms, which incorporate mostly German engineering. I love Mercedes AMG cars...I almost bought a 2011 C63...but you're being ignorant if you really believe what you typed.
