False. Geologists are not the first to get let go. When prices go down the industry is forced to drill smarter, lower risk wells. Geologists are the driving force behind that approach. Middle management will get trimmed back before solid geologists and engineers.

Doesnt really happen. Tight sands and shale get fracked. Not tar sands.
