Meaux, I have fished lead core before with my 24' bay boat. It can be done I use GPS to tell me how fast I am going and drag 2 5 gallon buckets behind to keep me going slow about 1.3-1.5mph typically we catch fish. However I HATE trolling the causeway would much rather beat the pilings with plastics my preferred way to catch them.
For an earlier post normally they show up around the world series.
I also understand that you can use lead core from a bay boat,i just want to try it in a Jon boat that's all
I do like jigging the poles better as well though.

Look at that stylish MF. Hey-do you guys also troll stick baits like bomber long A's? I bet they would kill it trolling. and I want to go too.
