You know they do some of their shite with their eyes closed, letting the commander call out the turns on the radio, in a cadence. Seems like there was a pretty damn good NatGeo special on them that went through everything.

The son of one of my dad's friends was their crew chief back when I was in high school and got us VIP tickets to their homecoming show in Pensacola, one year, where we sat 50 yards, or so, from the runway. They did a mock dust off of a carrier landing, but instead of going back up gently, they turn the nose straight up, perpendicular to the ground, and hit the after burners. The noise was indescribable.

The Fat Albert JATO takeoff is pretty neat, too. Their show is definitely worth the traffic jam.

No more JATO, the rocket bottles were from stockpile manufactured for use in Vietnam, the last ones were used in the Nov. 2009 Blue Angels show in Pensacola.
