re: Isn't This a Spread Formation?

For years Bama & LSU dominated the SEC West running a pro style offense and having stout "NFL size" and like defenses. These spread - no huddle "hurry up" offenses like Gus Malzahn's were designed specifically to compete with teams when they have better talent and size than you do.
This formation does narrow the gap between the teams and it only takes one guy to miss an assignment or tackle for a very big play.
I watched the AU game again and what's missing is one on one tackles being missed this year versus made last year. Everybody has to perform at 100% for a defense to stop this offensive attack.
I say mold the offense to the players we have now, not what we "want" to run. Cam Cameron's strengths were supposed to be matching offense to talent, but I'm still waiting to see it.
For example, where are the throws to TE's, or backs out of the backfield a la' Ray Rice. LF would dominate in the open field, but we don't get him there. That guy has great hands and speed.

miles recruits two spread mobile QB's to run an I formation, under center 1-2 WR set offense.
it doesn't make sense.

Over their heads.
If you want to have the TE, WRs and RBs catching the ball, you have to have the QB put it where they can catch it. Rarely can you expect a true freshman QB to come in and do this right away.
