And rarely are they successful in year 1.

New coaches also have the luxury of being cut some slack in their first year, they can lose a bunch of games. Miles doesn't have that luxury and must be seen as competing for the championship every year, even when trying to completely overhaul the offensive philosophy - WITH A TRUE FRESHMAN QB.

This year and next are when I'm saying we will see growing pains, by the third year (or even towards the end of year two) we may see a championship caliber offense again.

I would agree with you if he went wholesale spread and said as much and then there were growing pains. I think less people would have an issue. We aren't seeing wholesale spread and it doesn't exactly inspire confidence that we are moving that way. People are making inferences, albeit logical inferences, based on personal and the hiring of Grimes. Miles isn't always logical so I have my reservations he is actually changing offensive philosophy.

I will believe it when I see it. Should have done it all at once and been upfront that there were going to be speed bumps because of the transition. It would be better than ramming your backs up the middle 30+ times a game.

Also, you never acknowledged the fact that the adjustment shouldn't be too hard for freshman that come from high school already running the spread. It seems to me all you would get is the typical issues that come with freshman trying to adjust to the speed and the talent of the college game. Now you have them adjusting to Miles 70s offense and the speed and talent of college.

I disagree. If you have a terrible offensive line then you design plays that setup quickly

How did that work out for Oregon when we met them in 2011? What about Johnny Football the two times we played him? How did Clemson's offense fair when we played them? With all the Spreadmania going around, LSU still has the longest 10 win season streak in the entire country. Now that may very well end soon, but you get my point.

We shouldn't use that formation all the time. But as of right now based on the talent we have our players more accustomed to being in the spread. Jus look at when the offense was really flowing. It was when we were running a hurry up throw ball, and read option offense. And that's with which ever QB is in there.

We need to do it more, but Harris needs to learn how to play QB under center too.

I agree with that, but imo, they should base the offense around what he does best, then implement additional formations, as the season goes on. since harris rarely took snaps under center, in high school, he needs to be taking most of the snaps in the shotgun, right now. if he wasn't a true freshman, it wouldn't be a big deal.
