This is the kind of answer I was looking for. Tarp is definitly smaller then tent. Good call on towels soap and shampoo for comfort station. Was planning on roughing it and no baths for the weekend. Definitly a yes on the charcoal and steaks (food).

If it's the first tent camping trip for both of them, I'd just stay in the campground.
They have tent pads, BBQ grills, running water, and the comfort station close by.
Try the primitive sites on the next trip.
