I think last season fixed the mistakes that were made from the past showrunner (Mazzarra).

Yeah it did. Gimple did a great job digging out of that hole Darabont and Mazzarra made. Darabont wanted to make it "Days of our Zombies" soap opera and Mazzarra just did the continuation of ruining charaters.
