I have the VPI 16.5 cleaner and it is well worth the investment...
The vacuum in this thing is pretty strong. It will get most of the grit out--I use the Mobile Fidelity enzyme cleaning solution and the Mobile Fidelity record rinse solution. For the really nasty ones, I use a $39 steam cleaner from Walgreen's.
