Well if you are in Liberia or you just found out your neighbor that you had over for a picnic the day before has it then no, you aren't a kook. You are also probably getting real religious right about now calling in favors from the Big Guy in the Sky. Other then that I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
Your chances of contracting and dying from Ebola are low here in the states. As in killed by lightning while being molested by a grizzly bear that is being eaten by a shark low. Play the lotto instead, you have better odds. In that regard the panicking news media and government response is actually doing a public good.
When an outbreak of Oh My Fricking Jesus Kill It With Fire happens in a foreign country I want the media to wet itself to keep Americans from going over there, contracting it, and then bringing it back over here. I also want the government to spend a little bit of money and time sending over supplies and whatnot to make sure that whatever horrible disease is over there stays over there and doesn't decide to go on a world tour.
