Yes. And both of those leagues end up with champions that are far less deserving than college football champions.
Playoffs are the most ridiculous way to determine a champion. They are often about matchups.
If you have one team in a playoff who matches up well with 4 out of the 8 teams, and they play 3 of those teams to win the championship, are they more deserving than the team who matches up well with 7 of the 8 but loses to that one team in the first round.
Playoffs are entertaining, and they keep people from arguing that they should have won, but they also keep teams like the Patriots from winning a championship when they are the greatest team most have ever seen.
