people often seem surprised to learn that LSU is number 10 all time in wins. the bad run in the 90's perfectly coincided with Joe Deans tenure as AD from '87 to 2000. thats not coincidence.
in the 30 years before Dean, LSU had 3 losing seasons. In the 13 years under Dean, LSU had 8.
and 2 of those winning seasons were '87 (10-1) and '88 (8-4), Deans first two years, before he had time to frick things up, so really it's more like he had 8 losing seasons out of 11.
then Mark Emmert (current head of the NCAA) became chancellor in 1999, and one of the very first things he did was start rebuilding the football facilities, and then he went over Deans head to hire Saban from Michigan State. Dean was replaced by Bertman in 2000.
and yes I get that youre talking about LSUs current run, but people should know why things went to hell in the first place.
