I'm trying to figure out how many passes Drew has attempted over 30-40 yards. I can remember maybe 2 against atlanta, but no completions.

We have heard all offseason how fast Cooks is and how we have a deep threat again to stretch defenses.

To my knowledge, Cooks hasnt been thrown a single deep pass in the 40+ yard range. I am of the opinion that Drew, either because of oblique injury or age, is struggling to attempt the bomb type passes.

Can anyone confirm / refute the bomb pass stats?

He had that perfect 46 yard pass to Stills (completed about 40 yards down field) against the Cowboys.

In either the Atl or Cle game, Cooks was targeted for like a 40+ yard pass towards the endzone that was a bit overthrown.

He's been putting a lot of heat on some sideline passes for having lost a noodle arm

The one deepish pass to Cooks I remember (incomplete), he was blanketed by two DBs and the ball never should have been thrown. Think it was the Atlanta game.

I don't have stats on passes 30-40 yards deep.
However, I do have PFF's stats on "deep passes;" and they categorize deep passes as beyond 20 yards from the LOS.

In this stat, Brees is currently 7th in accuracy (at 46.2%), ahead of Matt Ryan, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, Nick Foles, and Tom Brady.

However, Brees is very low on number of attempts, as only 8.1% of his passes are beyond 20 yards.
No wonder our offense keeps stalling...defenses rarely have to worry that Brees will attempt a deep pass.
Payton needs to let him do his thing.
