Actually, the enterovirus IS much more worrisome to me. I'm not freaked out at all about Ebola. I'm just not partnering with my tennis friend tomorrow. She can play line 3 with someone else until after that Dr appt.

That said, it seems that containing Ebola seems to depend a lot on

isolation of ill people
and many people like my friend's husband (who just flew back today from west Africa via the Middle east) refuse to go to the Dr bc the have "the flu."

I think people should be told to calm the eff down but telling people that it's hard to spread may make many not seek medical care if they think sneezing all over shopping carts won't do anything.

There are a lot of oil & gas guys around here who travel to that region frequently. They need to keep their sneezy selves at home or go to the Dr.

Was he in West Africa for a few days or did his plane just stop there on the way back from the Middle East? Further, if he just came in there is no way that your friend could have caught the virus and be symptomatic by tomorrow morning. I would worry more about catching a flu indirectly.

BTW, it should be reassuring that the idiot in Dallas didn't get Ebola by some pure chance encounter. He was caring for a person he knew had Ebola and was on their death bed (beyond symptomatic) days before he came to the US.

Why is Ebola spreading so fast in West Africa? Because of morons like Mr. Duncan who thinks the best thing to do after caring for someone with Ebola is to immediately go visit a bunch of family. If he survives he should be arrested.
