I got nothing. I just don't want to have to go to class while the rest of the university is back home.

Just dont go, tell him its a holiday and you had travel plans and if he penalizes you then go to the dean.
I had a slapdick professor in grad school that was from africa or something that tried to have classes on saturdays during a fall semester, on the syllabus and everything, I think even the other profs and higher ups told him he was crazy, guy had no concept of football or tailgating
