I keep seeing on this board that we aren't generating pressure with people bashing Cam and Junior.

We have 47 hurries through 4 games this year. We had 47 hurries through 4 games last year. Cam and Junior have played well and have generated pressure off the edge. The issue lies with the interior, i.e. Hicks, who are allowing the QB to escape the pressure by with a completely empty middle.

12 sacks at this point last year to this year's 5.

Also, missed tackles. At this point last year, we had 13 of them. We have 44 this year

I think that stat is deceiving. I agree that our tackles have sucked arse so is it really a hurry if the QB can just step up in the pocket and be completely safe?

That's a great point, I think the reason people are saying we don't generate pressure is due to the lack of sacks. Hicks has never been a good DT but he was great last year as a 3-4 DE.

I agree with your point, but making the QB move is always a good thing. I just see a lot of people blaming Junior and Cam for some reason, when they have played well

Junior has 2 sacks, 4 hits, and 10 hurries this year while be much better against the run.

Last year at this time, he had 3 sacks, 4 hits, and 10 hurries.

We're getting pressure, but we can't finish for shite. Too many times we've had pressure on the QB, had him in our grasps only to watch him scramble away and find an open WR 20-30 yards down the field. It's getting really old.

He really played DT for us last year in the 4-2-5 actually. If he was a good 3-4 DE, he should excel at generating some kind of pressure up the middle on passing downs.

I will say- Junior is right in line to where he was last year only because, like the rest of our team, he was so much better at home than away, and we've only had 1 home game so far.

Or allowing a QB who just had back surgery to get the longest run of his career

Yes when they went to 4-2-5 he did play DT but while we're in the 3-4 at times this year he's playing NT while last year he played DE. That's not a good fit for him.

We rarely go to the 3-4, so I'm not buying that. We don't have the linebackers to run a 3-4.

He's sucking as a DT in the 4-2-5. If it was just him struggling in a 3 man front, it would be easy to forgive

Look at last year's film and you will see we played 3-4 at times. This year we haven't but the D sucks as a whole and not just him. We need to get more pressure up the middle but seems like we don't have the anyone on the roster to do it.

It was unbelievably rare that we played a 3-4 last year. We've had this debate several times last year.

We ran a 3-3-5 or even a 3-2-6 last year in some passing situations where Hicks cam inside with Junior and Cam on the outside. It was very effective

He's the biggest reason IMO

IMO he's not the only blame as to why our D sucks at the moment. The LB's and DB's has to step up, can't make a play on the ball and way too many missed tackles. I still like Rob and i hear people are already saying he should be fired. I think that's just silly, the players need to make more plays.

I think we have so many more missed tackles this season because we've been playing from behind so often. Our defense is constantly trying to strip the ball instead of just getting the guy down.

Our defenders aren't getting off blocks or Beating man on man blocks. That's about effort, heart, and will. All these players need to get slapped in the nuts.

We can't get off the field. We have given up more 80 yard drives through four games than we is through 8 games last year. It's not like big plays, turnovers or short fields are killing our D.

No link, heard it on Tim Fletcher.

Where's Paddy when you need him?

Exactly what RR gave them the opportunity to do vs dallas.
He seemed to really simplify the def and let the guys just match up for the most part.
They failed.

Myth

It's actually misleading. First pass of the game Romo spun out of a would-be sack and sat still for another 3 seconds before throwing the ball right before Hicks got his hands on him. That counts as a hurry, but Romo still had the better part of 8 seconds to find a receiver.

ETA: The tackling is very concerning to me though. This team is seriously underperforming.
