Never heard of anyone belted in no gi

I've never read anything of how good he was, or wasn't. Only him training. I did read something about him saying he didn't think grappling could be a spectator sport because of the slow pace

Judging by crowd reactions in Mma events when the fight hits the ground I would say he was right for the most part

I'll name drop a little for credibility's sake; Seth Petruzelli and Tom Lawlor (both good friends) haven't trained much in gi, but both are black belts. The person I got the brown belt from is co-owners of an mma gym w/ Seth and is a black belt under Marcio Simas. He barely ever trains in the gi.

I like to think I've earned those whippings.

I know what you mean, though. The more traditional guys (including Marcio) aren't against no gi, but only think you should be promoted through the gi.

Thanks for the info about Lee. I didn't know he was that into the grappling aspect.

I could be wrong but I believe van damme was a professional kick boxer in his earlier years. If that is true I believe van damme would defeat lee. You hould know better thn anyone that if you waver been hit in the face in training you are not prepared to compete in any sort of full contact event.
