While I normally would agree that $2.50 is ridiculous for a donut, I looked up the place where the OP bought his overpriced "creations". Besides a collection of gluten-free donuts and special vegan donuts of the day, I found this:
Yes, please. Not much different from a muffin at that point.
(They also have a Candied Maple Bacon donut, which I don't think I'd like very much.)
