Bookmarking this thread for the next time a hurricane is in the Gulf and yall are looking for sympathy.

It depends where you are I guess. My neighbors and family all help each other out and take care of business. We don't look for assistance and expect no sympathy.

Maybe you'll never need any help from anybody. But maybe you'll find yourself in a situation you can't handle yourself. Be careful having an indifferent attitude at someone else's misfortune. Karma has a way of evening things out.

I am right in the wake of that, I have ash raining down all day from white ash to large pieces of burned bark and pine needles, we have a warning to be ready to evac if need be.

What sort of measures have been taken in the past to thin out the forests and cut fire-lanes to try and limit the amount of fuel available to these fires?
